To 2-ethyl-2H-pyrazol-3-ylamine (5.6 g, 0.050 mol) was added 2-ethoxymethylene-malonic acid diethyl ester (10.1 mL, 0.050 mol) and the mixture was heated at 120° C. for 4 hours. After cooling down to RT, the crude mixture was purified by column chromatography (SiO2, EtOAc/Heptane 1/1) to give 12.25 g (86%) of the title compound as a yellow oil. ES-MS m/e: 282.4 (M+H−).
