To a mixture of tert-butyl[(1S)-1-cyanoethyl]carbamate (Step 2, 250 mg, 1.5 mmol) in ethanol (3 mL) were added triethylamine (0.41 mL, 2.9 mmol) and hydroxylamine (58 mg, 1.8 mmol). The mixture was stirred at 50° C. overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated to afford the desired crude product (300 mg) which was directly used in the next step reaction without further purification. 1H-NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6): 8.94 (s, 1H), 6.80 (d, J=8.5 Hz, 1H), 5.24 (s, 2H), 4.01 (m, 1H), 1.36 (s, 9H), 1.15 (d, J=7.0 Hz, 3H).
