Procedure
To a solution of 3-bromo-1-benzofuran-5-carbohydrazide (2.64 g, 10.35 mmol) in N,N-dimethylacetamide (10 mL) was added dropwise (1S)-2-chloro-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl acetate (1.44 mL, 11.38 mmol) at 0° C., and the resulting mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was recrystallized from hexane/ethyl acetate to give the title compound (3.41 g, yield 89%) as colorless crystals.
