A suspension of 4-chloro-6-methoxy-7-(1-methylpiperidin-4-ylmethoxy)quinazoline (100 mg, 0.31 mmol), (prepared as described for the starting material in Example 10), and 5-amino-2,3-dimethylindole (55 mg, 0.34 mmol) in isopropanol (6 ml) containing 5.5M hydrogen chloride in isopropanol (60 μL) was heated for 30 minutes at 70° C. After cooling, the solid was collected by filtration, washed with isopropanol, followed by ether and dried under vacuum to give 4-(2,3-dimethylindol-5-ylamino)-6-methoxy-7-(1-methylpiperidin-4-ylmethoxy)quinazoline hydrochloride (118 mg, 74%).
