Procedure

To a solution of ethyl (1S,3S,4S,5R)-5-hydroxy-2-[(1R)-1-phenylethyl]-2-azabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-3-carboxylate obtained in Example 2-3 (22 g) in ethanol (300 mL), was added Pearlman's catalyst (4 g). The mixture was stirred for 3 hrs under H2 atmosphere on 4 atm.
