12.9 g of 6-amino-1-cyclopentyl-5-nitroso-2,4-(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione (XV) was catalytically hydrogenated in 30 ml of 2N HCl and in the presence of 0.1 g PtO2 for 3 hours and at room temperature and at a pressure of 200 kPa. The catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate was neutralized with 5N NaOH. The crystals were filtered off. Yield 6.1 g (50%) (XV).
