Procedure
Meanwhile, a mixture of 137 mg. (0.5 mmole) of (3S,4S)-4-t-butoxycarbonylamino-3-hydroxy-6-methylheptanoic acid amide and 5 ml. of 6N hydrochoric acid in dioxane was stirred under a nitrogen atmosphere for 20 minutes and then evaporated under reduced pressure to dryness. The residue was dissolved in 2 ml. of dimethylformamide and 0.05 g. of N-methylmorpholine was then added to form a solution of (3S,4S)-4-amino-3-hydroxy-6-methylheptanamide.
