Procedure
The carbonyl compound was prepared by combining 500 mg (1.7 mmol) of the quinoxaline compound (7) and 16 nil HOAc, and then adding 5 ml of 30% H2O2. The mixture was heated to 60° C. for 16 hours, and then cooled. The product was recovered by filtration and dried at 0.5 mm and 60° C. overnight, yielding 150 mg of 1-n-butyl-7,8-dichloro-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]quinoxalin-4(5H)-one (8).
