2-Ethyl-7-methyl-3(2'-(N-triphenylmethyltetrazol-5-yl)biphen-4-yl)methyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine was prepared according to the procedure described in Part A of Example 7, from 2-ethyl-7-methylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (0.5 g, 3.11 mmol), N-triphenylmethyl-5-(4'-bromomethylbiphenyl-2-yl)tetrazole (1.82 g, 3.26 mmol) and NaH (3.12 mmol). The crude product (1.9 g, foam) was purified by flash chromatography on silica-gel using EtOAc-hexanees (1:1.5) to give the desired product as a white solid (0.95 g, 47.5%).
