Procedure

2-(4-Benzyloxy-2-methoxy-phenyl)-trans-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid methyl ester (500 mg, 1.6 mmol) is dissolved in ethyl acetate (10 mL) and hydrogenated for 2 hours in a Parr apparatus at 1 bar using 10% Pd/C as the catalyst. The solution is filtered through celite and the solvent removed under vacuum to give the title compound (yield 355 mg).
