A mixture of 3-bromo-5-(2,6-diethyl-phenyl)-1-(4-isopropyl-phenyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine (50 mg, 0.11 mmol), 2-tributylstannanyl-thiazole (83 mg, 0.22 mmol), Pd(PPh3)4 (20 mg, 0.017 mmol), and DMF (3 mL) is stirred under nitrogen at 100° C. for 18 h. The mixture is diluted with EtOAc (15 mL) and washed with water and brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated under reduced pressure. Chromatography of the residue gives 5-(2,6-diethyl-phenyl)-1-(4-isopropyl-phenyl)-3-thiazol-2-yl-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine as colorless oil: 1H NMR (CDCl3) 9.03 (s, 1H), 8.15 (s, 1H), 7.84 (d, J=1 Hz, 1H), 7.56 (d, J=12 Hz, 2H), 7.46 (d, J=12 Hz, 2H), 7.32 (t, J=7 Hz, 1H), 7.31-7.26 (m, 3H), 7.20 (s, 1H), 3.05 (m, 1H), 2.39 (m, 4H), 1.35 (d, J=8 Hz, 6H), 1.09 (t, J=8 Hz, 6H); LCMS m/z 452.23 (2.93 min).
