To tert-butyl 7-(thiazol-5-yl)-2,3-dihydrobenzo[f][1,4]oxazepine-4(5H)-carboxylate (41 mg, 0.12 mmol) in methanol (5.0 mL) added 4.0 M hydrogen chloride in dioxane (3.0 mL) and the mixture stirred at 25° C. for 20 minutes then concentrated to give 7-(thiazol-5-yl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydrobenzo[f][1,4]oxazepine as the hydrochloride salt.
