Using ethyl 2-chloroacetoacetate and 16 g of 3,4-diethoxybenzamide and following the procedure of Reference Example 5, 3.8 g of ethyl [2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)oxazol-4-yl]acetate was obtained.
