A solution of compound A (17.9 g, 39.7 mmol), hydroxylamine (3.9 g, 119 mmol), pyridine (200 mL), and water (100 mL) were combined. After stirring overnight, water (50 mL) was added and the precipitate was filtered to yield compound B as an off-white solid (16.9 g).
