Procedure

To a solution of 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-methyl-6-(N-methylacetylamino)-2H-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-3(4H)-one 1,1-dioxide (0.14 g) in ethanol (2.8 ml) was added conc. hydrochloric acid (2.8 ml). The mixture was refluxed for one hour and neutralized with aqueous saturated NaHCO3 solution. The resulting crystals were collected by filtration to give 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-methyl-6-(N-methylamino)-2H-1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-3(4H)-one 1,1-dioxide (0.105 g) as colorless powder.
