To a stirred solution of 3-Piperazin-1-ylmethyl-pyrimido[5,4-e][1,2,4]triazine-5,7-diamine TFA salt 5 (50 mg; 0.08 mmol; prepared in EXAMPLE 4) in dry DMF (1.0 mL) was added 1-Chloromethyl-2-methyl-Naphthalene (34 mg; 0.18 mmol) followed by potassium carbonate (55 mg; 0.40 mmol). The mixture was allowed to stir for 24 h at room temperature then taken up into CH3CN/H2O/0.1% TFA. The mixture was purified by reverse phase HPLC (Rainin C18, 0% CH3CN to 50% CH3CN gradient, CH3CN/H2O, 0.1% TFA) and the bright yellow fractions containing the product were lyophilized after removal of CH3CN in vacuo to give 23 mg of yellow colored 3-[4-(4-Ethyl-2-methyl-naphthalen-1-ylmethyl)-piperazin-1-ylmethyl]-pyrimido[5,4-e][1,2,4]triazine-5,7-diamine as the trifluoroacetate salt.
