Procedure
To a solution of 0.22 g (1.0 mmol) of 3-chloro-N-methylbenzo[b]thiophene-7-methanamine in 3 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide were added 0.12 ml. (1.2 mmol) of 1,3-dichloropropene (E/Z=9/1) and 0.21 g (1.5 mmol) of ground potassium carbonate. The mixture was stirred for 17 hours at 50° C., and poured into 50 ml of ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with 25 ml x 2 of water and 10 ml of saturated sodium chloride aqueous solution, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was subjected to silica gel chromatography (n-heptane→n-heptane/ethyl acetate=9/1). The desired fractions were put together and concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 0.21 g (yield: 73%) of the above identified compound as an oil.
