Suspend 50.2 mg. of 3-cyano-8-hydroxydibenzo[b,f]thiepine in 9 ml. of methylene chloride and add 40.6 mg. of m-chloroperbenzoic acid. Allow the mixture to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Separate the solids by filtration to obtain the title product (m.p., 241°-243° C.).
