To a solution of 2-cyclopropyl-1H-indole (17 mg, 0.11 mmol) and 1-[3-(4-iodophenoxy)propyl]pyrrolidine (36 mg. 0.11 mmol) in toluene (0.2 mL) was added copper iodide (0.2 mg), potassium phosphate (47 mg, 0.22 mmol), and N,N-dimethylethylenediamine (1.2 μL, 0.11 mmol). The reaction was stirred at 100° C. overnight. After cooling to room temperature, the reaction was filtered through a pad of silica. The reaction was concentrated and purified by preparative HPLC to give 1.6 mg of the desired indole. LC-MS (C24H28N2O calc'd 360) m/z 361 (M+H); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.55-7.52 (m, 1H), 7.35-7.32 (m, 2H), 7.10-7.02 (m, 5H), 6.16 (s, 1H), 4.11 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 2.70 (t, J=7.5 Hz, 2H), 2.59 (m, 4H), 2.08 (quint, J=7.0 Hz, 1H), 1.83 (m, 2H), 1.64 (m, 4H), 0.88-0.81 (m, 2H), 0.79-0.73 (m, 2H).
