Procedure
Potassium carbonate (2.0 g) and N,N,N′-trimethylethylenediamine (1.1 g) were added to a DMF solution (20 mL) of 2-bromo-5-nitropyridine (2.0 g), and stirred at 80° C. for 2 hours. The solvent was evaporated off under reduced pressure from the reaction liquid, and the resulting residue was purified through silica gel column chromatography (chloroform/methanol=500/5 to 500/10) to obtain N-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-N-methyl-N-(5-nitro-2-pyridinyl)amine (1.35 g) as an yellow oily substance.
