A mixture of (2S,4S)-1-tert-butyl 2-methyl 4-hydroxypyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylate (10 g, 40.7 mmol), imidazole (5.54 g, 81.4 mmol) and t-butyldimethylsilyl chloride (6.6 g, 45 mmol) in DMF (50 ml) was stirred and r.t. for 4 days. The mixture was diluted with EtOAc and washed with H2O and sat. NH4Cl. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated. 14 g of an oil product was obtained and used without further purification.
