In a flask were mixed together the above prepared 5-methoxy-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid (0.428 g, 2.23 mmol), cis-2,6-dimethylmorpholine (0.308 g, 1.2 eq.), (benzotriazol-1-yloxy)-tris-(dimethylamino)phosphonium hexafluorophosphate (1.18 g, 1.2 eq.) and 2.4 eq. of N-ethyldiisopropylamine (0.915 mL) in 9 mL of abs. THF and allowed to react during one night at ambient temperature. Pouring onto crashed ice/AcOEt/NH4Cl-solution, twofold extraction with AcOEt, washing with water and brine, drying over magnesium sulfate, and evaporation of the solvents, followed by flash chromatography (SiO2, hexane/AcOEt=7/3 generated 0.614 g of the title compound as colorless oil.
