This compound was synthesised as described under 1.e) with 1.45 ml of a 1N solution of HCl, 2.90 g (8.1 mmol) of 4-(2-phenyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)butyl phenoxyacetate obtained under a) in 13 ml of THF for 17 h. Column chromatography (SiO2, heptane/ether 8:2) afforded 1.98 g (78%) of a slightly yellow oil.
