Procedure
3 ml of HCl (1N) were added to a solution of 2.64 g (6.9 mmol) of 2-[3-(decyloxy)propyl]-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-dioxolane obtained under b) in 50 ml of THF. The reaction mixture was heated at 40° for 2 h. After cooling down to room temperature, ether was added and the reaction mixture washed with a saturated solution of NaCl (3×). The organic phase was dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to give 2.29 g (99%) of a slightly red oil that solidifies at 4°.
