Procedure
To a solution of 5-acetyl-4-amino-2-(4-bromo-2-fluorophenylamino)-3-fluorobenzoic acid methyl ester (1.00 equiv.) in THF and conc H2SO4 (4.00 equiv.) is added a solution of NaNO2 (1.50 equiv.) in water at 0° C. The reaction mixture is warmed to 60° C. and stirred for 3 hours. The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and diluted with EtOAc. The organic layer is washed with water, dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to give the crude material that is purified by flash column chromatography to afford the desired product as necessary.
