To a solution of 6-chloro-2-fluoro-3-(pivalamidomethyl)benzamide (0.300 g, 1.04 mmol) in EDC (10 mL) was added oxalyl chloride (0.11 mL, 1.25 mmol). The reaction mass was heated at 60-70° C. for 4-5 h. Excess of solvent was removed under vacuum to afford 1.0 g of desired product.
