A solution of 3,5-diamino-6-chloropyrazine-2-carboxylic acid (Intermediate 1.1.1, 2.50 g, 13.1 mmol), 1-aza-bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-ylamine dihydrochloride (2.87 g, 14.4 mmol), O-(benzotriazol-1-yl)-N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyluronium tetrafluoroborate (4.62 g, 14.4 mmol) and triethylamine (6.72 mL, 39.3 mmol) in dry N,N-dimethylformamide (25 mL) is stirred overnight at room temperature under nitrogen atmosphere. The resulting solid is collected by filtration, washed with diethyl ether and dried at 50° C. under vacuum.
