Trimethylsilyl chloride (275 μL, 2.17 mmol) is added to a solution of 3-oxaspiro[5.5]un-decane-8,10-dione (360 mg, 1.98 mmol), 4-formylbenzonitrile (259 mg, 1.98 mmol) and 1-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)urea (403 mg, 1.98 mmol) in a mixture of N,N-dimethyl-formamide (1.5 mL) and acetonitrile (2.5 mL), and the mixture is heated at 50° C. for 1 h. The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and poured into a mixture of water and ice. The precipitate is filtered and dried under reduced pressure. Yield: 712 mg; ESI mass spectrum [M+H]+=500, Retention time HPLC: 1.12 min (V012_S01).
