A solution of ethyl 4-methyl-5-(3-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)benzyl)thiazole-2-carboxylate (270 mg, 0.72 mmol) was treated with LiOH.H2O (61 mg, 1.45 mmol) in THF (4 mL) and H2O (1 mL), and stirred at RT for 2 h. The solvents were removed under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by Combiflash (20% MeCN/H2O) to afford 4-methyl-5-(3-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)benzyl)thiazole-2-carboxylic acid as a yellow solid (70 mg, 29%). MS (ES+) C17H21N3O2S requires: 331, found: 332[M+H]+.
