Procedure
(S)-2-(Pyrrolidin-3-yl)ethanol 2-fluoropyridine (6.95 mmol, 0.598 ml, 0.674 g) and triethylamine (17.36 mmol, 2.420 ml, 1.757 g) were dissolved in MeOH (2.5 ml) and heated to 150° C. for 1 hour in the microwave. TLC (permanganate stain) suggested SM remained. Further 2-fluoropyridine (6.95 mmol, 0.598 ml, 0.674 g) was added and heating continued for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by silica chromatography, eluting with DCM—3% MeOH/DCM to afford (S)-2-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrrolidin-3-yl)ethanol. 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ: 8.14 (d, 1H), 7.44 (m, 1H), 6.51 (m, 1H), 6.33 (d, 1H), 3.71 (m, 3H), 3.55 (m, 1H), 3.38 (m, 1H), 3.05 (m, 1H), 2.42 (m, 1H), 2.17 (m, 1H), 1.78 (m, 2H), 1.66 (m, 1H).
