Procedure
A 30 wt % aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide (29 μL) was added to a trifluoroacetic acid solution of 3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-methyl-4-trifluoromethylthiopyrazole (116 mg) described in Example 1. The reaction mixture was stirred overnight whereupon solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give a residue that was purified by chromatography (SiO2, heptane/EA) to afford the title compound as a white solid (100 mg, 83%). MS (ES): M/Z [M+NH4]=453. 1H NMR: (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): 2.35 (s, 3H) and 8.41 (s, 2H). 19F NMR (376 MHz, DMSO-d6): −62.01 (s, 3F) and −74.18 (s, 3F).
