Lithium hydroxide (0.25 mL of a 0.5N solution in H2O, 0.125 mmol) was added to a solution of the ester 13 (25 mg, 0.048 mmol) in THF (1.0 mL) at 23° C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 16 h, acidified with acetic acid and extracted with EtOAc. The organic portion was washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo. Purification of the residue by flash column chromatography (silica gel, 10% MeOH/CH2Cl2) afforded 10 mg (41%) of pure carboxylic acid 14.
