Combined 5-methoxy-1-(5-((3-methoxypropyl)carbamoyl)pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid (2.19 g, 6.55 mmol), NBS (1.749 g, 9.83 mmol), and sodium bicarbonate (1.651 g, 19.65 mmol) in DMF (20 mL) and stirred at 20° C. for 1 h. The reaction was diluted with water (100 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (100 mL, then 2×50 mL). The combined organics were washed with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give a residue which was purified on a 120 g silica gel column eluted with 10 to 100% EtOAc in hexanes to give the title compound (2.348 g, 97% yield) as a white solid.
