To a solution of 2-(2,4-dichloro-6-morpholin-4-yl-pyrimidin-5-yloxy)-ethanol (145 mg, 0.49 mmol) in THF (5 mL) was added sodium hydride (59 mg, 1.50 mmol, 60% dispersion in mineral oil) and the resulting mixture stirred at RT for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture was quenched with saturated aqueous ammonium chloride solution and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic extracts were dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo affording 2-Chloro-4-morpholin-4-yl-6,7-dihydro-[1,4]dioxino[2,3-d]pyrimidine as a white solid (114 mg, 90%). LCMS: RT=2.62 min, [M+H]+=258/260.
