Methyl-3-aminothiophene-2-carboxylate (15 g, 98.6 m mol) (Matrix, Cat #018289, CAS [22288-78-4]) was dissolved in formamide (50 mL) and stirred at 180° C. for 5 hours. The reaction mixture was further stirred at room temperature for 2 hours and the solid thus obtained was filtered to obtain the title compound.
