A mixture of 2-amino-4-trifluoromethylphenol (1.00 g), 2-methylsulfanylbenzoic acid (0.95 g), WSC (1.41 g), and pyridine (10 ml) was stirred with heating at 80° C. for 2.5 hours. Into the reaction mixture cooled to room temperature, 1 mol/l of hydrochloric acid was poured, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution, water, and saturated brine, sequentially, dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography to give 0.33 g of N-(2-hydroxy-5-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-methylsulfanyl-benzamide (Compound (1B)-515).
