5-methyl-7-neopentyl-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine-4,6(5H,7H)-dione (200 mg, 0.847 mmol), 1-(4-(bromomethyl)phenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole (202 mg, 0.847 mmol) and K2CO3 (117 mg, 0.847 mmol) are suspended in 5 mL of anhydrous DMF. The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 5 h, and then evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue is treated with water, and then extracted with dichloromethane three times. The combined organic phase is dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and then evaporated to dryness to give 337 mg of crude product, which is used in the next step without further purification. MS (ESI) m/z 394.2 [M+H]+.
