To a stirred solution of the product from Example 8.1 (400 mg, 1.23 mmol) in methanol (20 mL) was added 1N aqueous lithium hydroxide solution (2.46 mL) at room temperature. After 3 h, 1N aqueous hydrochloric acid (20 mL) was added. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate and the organic phase were washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The product was used directly in Example 8.3.
