Procedure
Methyl 3-[2-(2-[2,2,2-trifluoroethyl]guanidino)thiazol-4-ylmethylthio]propionate (0.5 g.) in EtOH (20 ml.) was treated with 33% w/v ethanolic methylamine (7 ml.) and stirred for 18 hours at room temperature. The solution was evaporated and the residue crystallised from aqueous EtOH to give N-methyl-3-[2-(2-[2,2,2-trifluoroethyl]guanidino)thiazol-4-ylmethylthio]propionamide (0.35 g.), m.p. 152°-154° (73%).
