Procedure

3-Cyclohexene-1-methanol (5.0 g) was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (50 ml), and imidazole (3.93 g) and tert-butylchlorodiphenylsilane (14 ml) were added to stir the mixture for 22 hours. After adding methanol, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, and water was added to the residue to conduct extraction with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (hexane:ethyl acetate=30:1) to obtain (±)-4-(tert-butyldiphenylsilyloxy-methyl)-1-cyclohexene (16.1 g) as a colorless oil.
