To the mixture of 2-cyano-6-hydroxyquinoline (0.50 g, 2.94 mmol) and diethyl phosphorochloride (0.67 g, 3.53 mmol) in 15 ml of anhydrous methylene chloride was added triethylamine (0.59 g, 5.88 mmol). The resultant mixture was stirred for 5 hours at room temperature. After removal of the solvent, the product was purified by flash chromatography using heptane/ethyl acetate as eluent in a yield of 91%.
