Procedure
1 g (3.2 mmoles) of olanzapine base is dissolved in 80 cm3 of 2-propanol by boiling in an apparatus equipped with a reflux condenser. Subsequently 3.7 g of hydrogen chloride solution in 2-propanol (31.5 m/m %) are dropped to it. The mixture is cooled in ice-water for 10 minutes and the precipitated yellow product is filtered off. Thus 1.20 g (97%) of the title compound is obtained.
