Procedure

4-(4-{2-[2-(3,5-Difluoro-phenyl)-acetylamino]-pentanoylamino}-imidazol-1-yl)-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.1 g, 2.1 mmole) was dissolved in 20 mL of methylene chloride and 1.6 mL of trifluoroacetic acid was added. Reaction stirred overnight, extrated with sodium bicarbonate, and used without further purification to afford the title compound: C13 NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3) 12.8, 18.9, 29.9, 34.1, 41.5, 43.2, 52.4, 53.7, 101.8, 105.6, 111.9, 112.1, 132.0, 137.1, 170.4, 171.5; MS 420.1 m/z (M+1).
