To a solution (5 mL) of 3-[(4-{[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)(methyl)amino]methyl}-2-phenyl-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)sulfonyl]benzoic acid (205 mg) in N,N-dimethylformamide were added 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide hydrochloride (125 mg) and 1-hydroxy-1H-benzotriazole ammonium salt (100 mg) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1 hr, water was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with water and saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane-ethyl acetate=4:1→1:1→1:4) to give the title compound as a colorless oil (yield 193 mg, 94%).
