A mixture of 2-amino-5-methylthiazole (0.55 g, 4.8 mmol) and 1-(3-bromopropyl)pyrrole (TCI-US, 1.0 g, 5.3 mmol) was warmed to 85° C. and was stirred for 2 h. The mixture was then cooled to ambient temperature and was purified by flash column chromatography (SiO2, 10% CH3OH in ethyl acetate then 9:1:0.1 CH2Cl2:CH3OH:NH4OH) to give the title compound (0.86 g, 3.9 mmol, 81% yield). MS (DCI/NH3) m/z 222 (M+NH4)+.
