Procedure
Methyl 2-(1-(1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-indazol-5-yl)cyclohexyl)-2-methylpropanoate (635 mg, 1.61 mmol) was dissolved in 4 mL pyridine and transferred to a microwave reactor. Potassium cyanide (419 mg, 6.45 mmol) and LiI (864 mg, 6.45 mmol) were added and the reactor was sealed under nitrogen and heated in a microwave for 30 min at 180° C. The reaction was extracted from 1 M HCl using EtOAc×4 (lots of black, insoluble precipitate). The organic layers were dried, concentrated, and purified by MPLC on SiO2 using 1:1 EtOAc/hexanes. Obtained 115 mg (19%) of off white powder 2-(1-(1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-indazol-5-yl)cyclohexyl)-2-methylpropanoic acid.
