A mixture of 0.3 g (1.57 mmol) 5-methoxytryptamine, 0.34 g (1.57 mmol) 4-(trifluoromethyl)hydrocinnamic acid (commercially available), 0.6 g (1.8 mmol) TBTU and 0.6 g (4.6 mmol) DIPEA in 6 mL DMF was shaken for 3 h at room temperature. 50 mL water was added and the mixture was extracted with DCM. The combined organic phases were washed with water, dried with MgSO4 and evaporated to dryness to yield the title compound which was used without further purification in the consecutive step.
