To 1.20 g (3.57 mmol) 1-[2-(4-hydroxymethyl-phenyl)-ethyl]-4-(pyridin-2-ylmethoxy)-1H-pyridin-2-one (example 3.1a) in 25 mL of DCM is added at 0° C. 0.24 mL (2.50 mmol) phosphorus tribromide. After warming to RT, the mixture is stirred 2 h at RT and is diluted with 30 mL tertbutylmethylether. The precipitate is collected and dried.
