A solution of 6-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-7-fluoroquinazolin-2-ol (2.0 g, 6.7 mmol) in POCl3 (30 mL) was heated at 135° C. for 2 hours. After that, the reaction solution was cooled to room temperature and dropwise added to saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (800 mL) at 0° C. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (200 mL*3). The combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to afford the title compound (1.1 g, 52%) as a pale yellow solid. MS (ES+) C16H12ClFN2O2 requires: 318, found: 319 [M+H]+.
