Procedure

Tetraprotected amino acid (11) (118 mg, 0.24 mM) is refluxed in 6N HCl (20 ml) for 8 hours. After cooling the aqueous solution was washed with Et2O (3×25 ml) and evaporated to dryness in vacuo to yield the desired compound as a very hygroscopic white foam, 64 mg (89% yield).
